All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!. I'd like to live in a medium sized wooden or brick house with a big front porch and a cute little yard full of nice grass or flowers, on a neighborhood street. (Maybe something similar to this.) I love the neighborhood I live in right now; it's liberal and artsy, not too upscale but still safe, full of lovely houses, in the perfect location near a big city (in the south USA), within walking distance of an awesome shopping/bars district. I'd stay right here, but just get a house, with wood floors, big windows with white curtains, a kitchen full of plants and pretty towels and utensils, three bedrooms, my cat, good lighting, maybe a puppy one day (if my cat likes it), a craft/sewing room, and a medium sized backyard that I can grow things in. And of course I'd like to live there with a partner that I love (I'm picturing my current boyfriend, but we'll see how things go) and eventually children.
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted! 1. I would wish to be able to cast the spell that Hermione cast on her little beaded bag in Deathly Hallows (I come from the HP fandom, can you tell?). For those who don't know, it's an undetectable extension charm; you can put anything into a bag and the bag remains the same on the outside. 2. Good health for me and my loved ones. 3. A ridiculous amount of money. (Enough money that I could buy all of my closest friends a house, buy my parents anything they wanted and pay off all their debts, pay off my boyfriend's car payment, start a business without getting a loan, and own 5 million awesome dresses.)
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;) Oh goodness. I guess I'm most proud of getting out of the bad place I was in emotionally last year and the few years before that. That's not really the sort of thing that normally comes to mind, but thinking back on a year ago, I can't help but be thankful that I learned how to be stronger and deal with hard things and that now I'm much happier. I made some changes that were difficult but made all the difference, and I'm so glad I didn't get scared or give in and take the easier path.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice. I guess love is most important, because without love, none of the other things are any fun. I don't want family and friendship without love, and I don't think I'd enjoy any of the other things without knowing that I have loved ones who would share it with me. Without love, any pleasures wouldn't be pleasing. Least important might be adventure. I hate putting it last, but all of the other things seem to facilitate having an adventure that is fun and rewarding. Without the other things, the adventure would be dangerous or difficult or incomprehensible.
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain. Haha, um... "how can you say they live their life wrong, when you never fuck with the lights on?"- Kanye West, Hell of a Life. This song is about how Kanye fell in love with a porn star, and this line is about how people judged her. Those people were so repressed themselves that they didn't have room to judge anyone. Basically, I like this line because I feel like it applies to lots of people and situations. You can't judge other people unless you've tried it out; you shouldn't judge other people in general. Everything has value, who are you to say that someone else is wrong? I try to live this way, though of course I'm human and sometimes do have judgmental thoughts, even if I try not to.
Or for a longer passage, A Thirsty Fish by Rumi. It's so beautiful.
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can. I am not great at managing money. I'm in college but my parents pay for most everything. They are also terrible at managing money, so I didn't have the best example. Overall though, I think once I graduate, I'll be much more careful with my money since I'll know that I don't have that larger income to fall back on and I'll have worked for everything myself. I hope to one day be financially secure, but I don't think that money necessarily means happiness. I'd rather have a family than a really good job, but obviously I'd like to be able to provide for them. I also like to buy my friends things and loan out money whenever they need it, and I hope that doesn't change when it's me earning all of it.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office? I fight Dagorhir, which is a sport where you simulate medieval combat with foam weapons. It's awesome because it makes me more confident, it encourages me to learn new skills (like sewing and leather armor making), and at events you camp and wear medieval clothing. You can also meet a lot of awesome people. Sometimes there's drama, but where isn't there? I also like to plan events and throw parties. I've turned my apartment into the inside of an alien spaceship, led 10 year olds on a quest to kill a dragon, directed 8 actors in a murder mystery for 30 guests, and learned a lot about organizing, planning, putting things together, and managing. I hope to one day do something similar as a career. I also like to hang out with friends and my boyfriend, drink, be a nerd, go to things like Dragon*Con and Bonnaroo and Harry Potter conventions, be online, decorate, shop.
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain. Cockroaches. They're slimy and freaky and disgusting. Terminal illness, because I don't like things that leave me with no choices. Similarly, the death of a loved one. I love my loved ones a lot.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question. BEST: I'm self aware and good at understanding other people as well. I think this is good because it helps me behave in a way that doesn't hurt people. Or at least notice when I am. Secondly, I'm very efficient and effective when I want to be. I like this because it keeps me from getting frustrated. Thirdly, I trust and love easily. I don't like having relationships that aren't close, so I like to be open and affectionate with people rather than keeping people at a distance.
WORST: I'm lazy. Super lazy sometimes. It makes me procrastinate, not do as well as I could in school, etc. Secondly, I get angry pretty easily. I usually try not to get it all over other people, but sometimes I can't help it and then I feel extra bad later because I knew what I was doing at the time and did it anyway. Also, I'm self centered. When it's not too difficult, I do help out my friends and do things for others, but my overall life choices are always to make myself happier. In small things, it's not as obvious, but I'll never stay in a relationship if it's not benefiting me. (I don't think it's always a bad thing though; I mean, if you're not making yourself happy, then what's the point? But then that might be a self centered attitude, so I don't know.)
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.How many books from the series have you completed? All of them! Just this Saturday I finished Dance with Dragons, I'm very excited about the whole series and fandom.
2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why? Jon Snow!!!!! I mean, recently, with how he seems to be pretty important. And he's awesome with the wildlings and all. Daenerys, because she's so strong. And her sense of what's right and wrong. Robb Stark, because I like those 'what could have been' characters. He made an excellent king and I believe in his cause. (I also love Rhaegar Targaryen, even though he is long dead.)
3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why? Not in any particular order: Davos, because he's boring to me. Um, Joffrey... because he's Joffrey. Oh! And Robert Baratheon. Because he let his personal feelings ruin a kingdom, which I absolutely hate in characters and people in real life.
4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why? Oh god, I have maybe five thousand? (Sorry if that's not allowed.) Moment that made me fall in love with the show and therefore read the books: Jaime's 'the things I do for love'. Dany eating the horse heart. Cersei having Illyn Payne in the room during the battle of King's Landing. Arya leaving Harrenhal. Theon thinking that he should have died with Robb. But maybe number one: The King in the North! scene.
5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why? Am I allowed to put spoilery things here? I've tried to be vague so far, but there will probably be more specific things here. SPOILERS for Dance.
The three heads of the dragon are Dany, Jon, and Tyrion. They all undergo a rebirth as Azor Ahai, with the dragons as Lightbringer. (Jon being NOT DEAD, but his final scene in Dance counts as his rebirth anyway.) They all join together to unite Westeros just in time to defeat the Others and rid the land of unnatural winters. The slaves, wildlings, and all other disenfranchised (in the Westeros sense) sorts of people are treated as equals and with respect in the new kingdom. Tyrion uses his excellent skills as a ruler to make sure that the idealism of Dany and Jon don't overwhelm the practicalities of keeping the peace.
All of the prophecies come true and make sense eventually. (I'm really into analyzing the prophecies right now.) Especially the blue flower growing from a crack in a wall of ice; that should refer to Jon as Dany's final husband (one rode to love and the fire lit to love in there as well) and as Rhaegar and Lyanna's son. Dany as slayer of lies will reveal Stannis as not Azor Ahai and Aegon as only a cloth dragon.
Miscellaneous: Sansa should get Winterfell. Sandor should be not dead and should somehow end up with Sansa. Littlefinger should not die, but somehow continue to be awesome while not harming any of my other favorite characters. (Maybe keep the Vale.) Arya should escape the Faceless Men with lots of new skills and knowledge, become Arya Stark again, complete her prayer, and meet up with Nymeria. The Sand Snakes should do something really awesome and helpful and Dorne should earn lots of honors and success by supporting the true dragons. Asha should be lord of the Iron Islands. Bran should do something awesome, but not end up working for the Others by accident, as some people think. Jorah should be forgiven and made head of the Queensguard. Someone (hopefully Theon) should kill Ramsay Bolton in a really horrible and painful manner. Theon should be forgiven and allowed to go home or die heroically. Jaime should be forgiven and allowed to stay on the Kings/Queensguard even though he killed Aerys, since Aerys was actually quite crazy. Or, he could stop being sworn to chastity and marry Brienne. Cersei should have an awesome death. Sam should become Lord Commander after earning his Maester's chain. Robb's bones should be returned to Winterfell.
