The sorting applications in the queue due to be released tomorrow, Monday, will be the last of Game 10. You may continue to send in your applications during the hiatus, but they will not be released immediately. Once Game 11 starts, we will be releasing the applications submitted to the queue in chronological order, up to 7 per week.

If you have any questions about submitting an application or how the community works, check out the Official Westerosorting FAQ.

Despite the very same thing spelled out in big friendly letters right above the application questions in our community's user info, recently we've had more applications come in with coding problems than usual, so let me repeat some things.

Dear new applicants -- the application questions provided for you in our handy textbox are already in HTML. You don't have to fix anything there or delete the first line because you find it irrelevant (because it's not, and it's there for a reason); the only thing you need to do is make sure you fill in your answers without losing any of the original coding and then copy-paste the entire thing into the HTML tab of your [livejournal.com profile] westerosorting entry, and not RichText. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Greetings, [livejournal.com profile] westerosorting!

We are sending ravens to inform you that the Long Break is almost over. Game Ten (our jubilee game, as mauvais_pli so aptly noted, will begin on December 1.

As of 12:01 AM ET US, we'll open up [livejournal.com profile] westerosorting and release the first 7 applications in the queue. (There are currently 10 applications, which means that not all apps currently in the queue will be released the first week. If you want to know whether or not yours is likely to be in the first or second batch, feel free to comment here. :)

And if you've been watching the comm and waiting to apply until the start of Game Ten, now is probably a good time to start polishing your application.

Looking forward to meeting and welcome our new applicants soon!

The community will officially re-open on Tuesday, 1st January for the beginning of Game 9. The first seven applications in the queue will be released then, and stamped the following Saturday. We're eager to start the new game and hope to welcome many new members! However, there's currently two applications in the queue, so plenty of room to jump in on the first sorting batch of the game!

As a reminder to our current sorting members: please capitalize your house name and put it in brackets. For example, if you are from House Tully, you would put [TULLY] in your subject line (if you are using a Livejournal style that does not show comment subject lines, please bold it in addition and put it at the top of your comment, i.e. [TULLY]). Make sure to bold your vote, as well, e.g. Martell.

As of Game 9, sorting (and stamping) will be worth 10 points per vote -- provided you fulfill the requirements specified above. The corresponding decision regarding monthly and game sorting bonuses is still in discussion; once the mod team decides, there will be a separate announcement.

A note on our admission policy: as of last game, we require applicants to have read through A Feast For Crows to join the community. We feel that the first four books are required to understand the seven houses that we use here well enough to sort new applicants fairly. We will reject any applications that indicate that the applicant has not read through the first four books. Additionally, it should be noted that spoiler warnings for A Dance with Dragons are not used within the community, so if you decide to join not yet having finished the latest book, avoiding spoilers is your own responsibility.

Also, members whose journals are defunct have been removed from all sub-communities. If your journal was among those deleted and you wish to return to the community, please contact us here.

For any remaining questions and rules regarding sorting, see the Sorting section of the Official Westerosorting FAQ.

Kindly put your house name in [square] brackets either in the subject line or the body of your comment. Bold your house name and your vote. Fostered folks, please remember to put in the house you are currently fostered in.

Next batch will be the last one for Game 8. If you want to get sorted before we go on hiatus, submit your app before next Monday, October 22. All seven spots are currently empty, so come on in!

Hello [livejournal.com profile] westerosorting! This is just a quick reminder that Game Eight will end on Sunday, October 28, in 4 weeks.

During the inter-game hiatus there will be no sorting or stamping, and no fanworks posted on [livejournal.com profile] valyrian_forged, so if you've been waiting to submit a sorting application (or have friends who are), want to get stamped, or have been waiting to post a fanwork, now is the time :)

Good luck to all the houses in your continued competition!

No sorting this week, because there aren't any applicants! :(

I'm going to sit here in the corner eagerly awaiting new apps & making wildfire coctails!
[identity profile] mauvais-pli.livejournal.com
Due to lateness on my part, there will be no sorting this week. We would like to give each application the consideration and time it deserves, so the applications currently in the queue (5) will be released next Monday, June 18. I apologize to the applicants and sorters alike for the hold-up.

Starting from this game onwards, we will be requiring applicants to have read through A Feast For Crows to join the community. We feel that the first four books are required to understand the seven houses that we use here well enough to sort new applicants fairly. We will reject any applications that indicate that the applicant has not read through the first four books.

The community will officially re-open on Monday, 14th May for the beginning of Game 8. The first seven applications in the queue will be released then. We're eager to start the new game and hope to welcome many new members!

Also, to our current sorting members: from now on, please capitalize your house name and put it in brackets. For example, if you are from House Lannister, you would put [LANNISTER] in your subject line (if you are using a Livejournal style that does not show comment subject lines, please bold it in addition and put it at the top of your comment).

And remember that there is one day left to re-sort our re-sorting applicant.

Cheers!

This is the last batch of Game Seven. Any applications currently in the queue or submitted during the inter-game break will be released for sorting after Game Eight starts (probably some time in May).

Note: The batch released next week will be the last one of Game Seven. If you've been planning to apply and want to do it this game (sorting won't be back until May at the earliest after this), make sure to have your application in the queue by Sunday, March 25.

Only the regular seven applications will be released, on a first-come first-served basis. There are currently 2 applications in the queue, so only 5 spots remain.

Also: If you are submitting your application, please make sure your HTML is working properly, you have an LJ-cut, and are posting via the HTML tab on the Post Entry page, NOT the Rich Text one (we've had a lot of those lately...). Applications with non-functioning HTML will be rejected and will need to be resubmitted, and you will lose your place in the queue.

Thank you!

Also, a very special reminder: we are nearing the end of Game Seven. There will be two more batches released before the inter-game break (which normally lasts about 1.5 months, and during which no sorting takes place). As usual, the batches will be limited to 7 applications. If you want to get sorted this game, your applications needs to be in (with correct HTML and everything) by Sunday, March 25, and you may want to make sure it's in earlier than that in case the queue fills up.

Special announcement: The last batch of game six will be batch 128. In order to fit everything in before the end of the game, batch 128 will be released on Sunday, August 28 and voting will be open through the end of Game Six, Wednesday, August 31 -- both a day earlier than for a normal batch.

If you are waiting to get sorted, make sure your application is submitted to the queue no later than 11:59 p.m. EST Sunday, August 28. We will observe the seven application limit, so you are definitely encouraged to submit an application earlier than that, preferrably this week, in case there's an end-of-game rush. Applications which are not released as part of batch 128 will remain in the queue over the inter-game break and will be released as the first batch of Game Seven in October.

Brief announcement: I'd like to ask anyone currently filling out an application to please specify individual users instead of community names for who referred you to this community (at the top of the application). If your application is already in the queue, you can edit it in once it's posted on Monday. For the future a note will be added to the application itself. Thanks! Hope to see many more applicants to come!

Having a thorough, well-written application is important. It helps members sort you. Short applications, or applications with a lot of grammatical errors, sometimes receive no votes. If you're worried about your writing and grammar, we can help you.

If you think your application is long enough but aren't confident about your grammar, you may ask to have someone proofread it for you before submission.

If you are having trouble filling out your application because English is not your first language, you might be able to work with someone else who speaks your language. They can help you translate your answers. If you speak one of the following languages better than English:
Russian
Italian
Armenian
Croatian, Serbian, or another similar language
German
French
Spanish,

please contact us for help.

Send me a private message if you want to use either of these services.

Our fourth "Game of Thrones" will be ending at 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, June 30.

Because of this, anyone wishing to apply in time to join for this game will need to have their applications in our queue by TOMORROW (June 26th). Applications sent in after that time will be kept in the queue and released on the start date of our fourth game, which will be August 1st.

Please feel free to comment with any questions or concerns.

General Announcement to All Prospective Members!

The current game we have going on inside our community at the moment will be officially ending on June 30. We'll be following that with a short break before our third Game starts on July 20. SO:

If you would like to apply before the break, now is the time to do it. We will be accepting and posting applications up until 11:59 PM EST on Friday, June 26. All people applying in this next batch will be sorted by Sunday, June 28. Because of the end-of-the-game craziness, we will be accepting as many people as would like to apply for this next week, rather than the usual seven applications.

If you cannot apply in this time frame, please feel free to apply any time afterward - just be aware that your application will be kept in the queue until the third game starts on July 20.

Apologies if any of this is confusing - feel free to comment with any questions or concerns! Hope to see some of you in here with us soon. :)

So, for those who don't know, we are at the tail-end of our very first "Game of Thrones", which will be ending on Tuesday, December 30.

Because it is the end, applications will not be released according to the normal weekly schedule. Applications will be released starting at midnight EST tonight (Dec. 26) up until midnight EST tomorrow (Dec. 27).

After tomorrow, we will officially be on a sorting break. Applications can absolutely still be submitted, but none submitted after Dec. 27 will be released until January 19, when our second official "game" will begin.

Please feel free to comment if you have any questions or concerns.

It has come to the attention of the mods that a lot of you sorted members are missing out some serious fun going on in our other communities.

Don't forget to join:

[livejournal.com profile] greathouses, where plenty of interesting discussions and polls (some of which will be impacting the points system!) are taking place.

[livejournal.com profile] jesteros, where lots of amusing lists, games, and conversations are continuing to be produced by the unstoppable cleverness of your fellow ASOIAF fans.

And of course, [livejournal.com profile] thetourneys, where there is a promotion contest taking place. Other contests are going to be taking place very shortly, as well - we have already started planning some in the mod community. :)

So, once again, if you're sorted, please don't be afraid to join in the fun!
