All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
I once lived in a 3000sq 2 story+basement single family house. The person who bought the house as it was being built was and Indian, so the walls are all different shades of yellow and red. Though we painted my room blue and the kitchen white. My favorite thing about the house is that is all very bright but not glaringly bright or overly warm. Most of the floors are light woods, so the house has a very airy feel. Our living room was open so the ceiling was very high. It's hard to describe but the sun shines through the windows in a really nice way. I love the house in summer and spring, it's cool inside but it's also sunny and bright. It gives a very crisp feeling. The other thing I really like in any place I live is a nice, big, clean kitchen along with a cozy headroom. I guess it's cheating to use a place I've previously lived in, but I'd like to go home if that was an option.
Though, I think it'd be lonely to live in such a big house alone. If it's just two people or just myself or if I haven't developed a deep human relationship by the point I can own a house, then me and a dog, I'd prefer to live in either a flat or an apartment. I don't have anything against old buildings, but I tend to gravitate towards newer buildings because the inside is usually maintained better. It'd be nice if the apartment had a charming historical facade, but the inside was very clean and new. I like wood flooring, and open spaces. Lots of windows. I guess a fire place would be nice, but it's not something I need. I like neutral and cool colors, but they'd need to be balanced with something warm, like wood because a cold house is a very sad thing. Windows for sure too! I really like sunny days and even foggy/gray days and rainy days to some extent. At this point in time I'm not sure if my feelings toward snow are nostalgia or fondness, but either way, windows for sure!
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
I hate questions like this...
Three wishes would be conditional on my current state of mind, and the current state of my life at the time the wishes were offered to me. But, at this moment in time I wonder if I really need three wishes. I'm content with what I have, and yes, there are many things I want but sometimes I feel like it's the struggle that makes life fun. Plus a wish is such a questionable thing, it seems like a blessing but it might turn into a curse sooner or later. What if the thing I wish for now is something I'll hate in the future?
I guess I'd wish to be able to live a fulfilling life, the kind that leaves you able to die happily. The other two wishes, I'd probably use to help a friend or something. Maybe I'll keep them for an emergency if no one needs a wish.
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
I survived APUSH...
No, that's a joke. I'm a bit young for this question I think. I've spent most of my life in school. I've lived in and seen many different places, but the world is such a wide place and I've only seen so little. Come back in a few years and I'll get back to you.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
This is really hard for me but I think Family wins. It was really hard to pick between Family, Friendship and Adventure. But at the end of the day my family has raised me, protected me, helped me and hurt me. Friendship is important for me because friends are just like family. And as for adventure, I want to see the world and experience more things! With experience comes knowledge and wisdom and both are power. Money too, is power. Power is useful, you can get the things you want and protect the things you treasure like your family and friends. Everything's a big circle so it's hard to rank one above the other.
As for least important, it's Money. I like to live a comfortable life, I like my nice middle class life with all of the nice things that come with it and I wouldn't say no to more nice things but in comparison to everything else, this is the less important one.
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
"No," he repeated, and this time the word tolled in another voice, a kings's voice; not Haggard, but a king whose grief was not for what he did not have, but for what he could not give. -- (The Last Unicorn; Peter S. Beagle)
I haven't actually read the book, so I'm not sure what context this quote is put in, but I've liked this quote since I first saw it. People are bound by their obligations and their commitments. If I have a commitment, then it's really important for me to honor that and live up to my commitment no matter how much I dislike it, or how much I wish I was doing something else. But by having this kind of mindset, it's important to know your limits and not commit to too much. I can't say I go about things without whining (because I whine) or right away (because I procrastinate) but if I make a promise, then I will do my best to live up to that promise.
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
I would say, I'm not stingy but I'm not a big spender either. I guess I would say... I'm a practical spender who indulges in small things every now and then? Sometimes I have internal struggles where it's like "should buy expensive item a? but I already bought expensive item b today... and plus expensive item a isn't something I need and will be on sale later..."
As for saving money. I like to save what I don't spend. Never know when you might need some extra cash. Always better safe than sorry. Financial security is important.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
Escapism. Via books, internet, TV ect. Sometimes it's nice to escape from your current problems. The thing with escapism is that you have to know when to reel yourself back to reality, which thankfully, I know how to do.
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
Being Alone - I don't need to be surrounded by people all the time, but I need to know that there are people out there that will be there if I need them.
Failing to My Vices - I'm pretty well-aware of my vices and for me, it'd be horrible if I was unable to achieve something that I wanted because of some flaw that I was already aware of. It means I wasn't strong enough to overcome my flaw.
Being Hurt - specifically by people who are close and whom I trust dearly. It's often said the person who knows you best is the person who is able to hurt you the best. One of my biggest fears is finally coming to trust someone very close and for that person to turn around and hurt me. Because this is someone very close, they know exactly what hurts.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
Best Traits
Honorable - wow this is a horrible word to use in ASOIAF... but honor for me covers a lot of things I consider to be redeeming about myself such as, sticking to my word, loyalty, reliability. I'm a loyal person and I stick to my word. I will always be there for my friends and family if they need me. I try to do what I think is the right thing. I honor my commitments and try not to overcommit so that I can honor previous commitments.
Flexible - that being said, I don't think I'm like Ned in that respect. I'm flexible when it comes to changes, and I don't change easily, but I can change if there is reason to.
Empathetic - I like to think I'm an insightful person and that I'm open to different kinds of people. I can emphasize with people and connect with them.
Worst Traits
Coward - I'm scared to risk the things I have and so sometimes when the risks outweigh the reward, when the losses outweigh the gains, I won't take the risk. I am scared of being hurt by people close to me, and so it takes me a long time to open up to people. I'm scared of change.
Hypocritical/Judgmental - Sometimes I hold people to standards I can't meet. I disliked being judged on first sight because I think you won't understand me if you judge on first sight, but I judge people by my first impressions.
Realist - It's a good and bad trait. But my realism seems to feed my cowardice, so it's probably more of a bad trait than a good one.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.How many books from the series have you completed? All five.
2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
I liked Ned Stark a lot. I remember when I was reading GoT I just instantly got attatched to him and his death was a horrible thing. But now looking back, I'm able to see all of his flaws and all of his mistakes. I think at heart, he's a good-intentioned man who's one greatest trait was also his greatest flaw. His inability to sacrifice himself (or his pride/honor) ended up causing pain to the people around him. It's very interesting.
I liked Renly because he was charming and had charisma. Like Ned, he's got his flaws. His death was anti-climatic and that disappointed me, but oh well.
And I also love Sansa. She's grown a lot over the course of the books and I think it's a mix of "she's been through a lot" but also a bit of "the soft, beautiful top layer has been scratched away to expose the iron beneath" kind of thing. Horrible things happen to her, and she's made mistakes but even through all her suffering, she hasn't gotten bitter. Unlike Robb and Arya, she doesn't seem to actively seek revenge. I think a lot of people dislike her for that, but I like that.
3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
This is a really cop out answer, but I don't really dislike anyone in the series. I feel like most of the characters have been fleshed out in a way that they aren't just there to be antagonists and some of the characters that I could potentially end up disliking (coughtheoncough) either end up in situations where I can no longer hate them or I find them very interesting.
4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why? That scene in the TV show where Tyrion slapped Joffery was really satisfying...
But in all seriousness, my favorite scene from the show has got to be the last scene where Joff brings Sansa to stare at the heads and she's all like "plz plz no" but then recovers and aaaaadfsg4ghsdgfdgj Sansa, how you've grown...
5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
I don't know. At this point I've tried to distance myself from the characters so it doesn't burn so much when they die. All I want is for Sansa to go home and live happily with Bran, Rickon, Arya and Jon. I don't want her to rule, not that I think she'd be bad at it, I want her to go home and be happy surrounded by her family and everything is beautiful and rainbows.
Oh I also hope none of the Stark children ever have to meet Lady Stoneface face to face. That's horrible.
