I just did a search for "A Song of Ice and Fire" and happened to run into it :)

All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
I'd like something near the ocean and up on the East Coast of the United States. I've lived in Texas my whole life, the closet thing I've ever seen to snow is this dirty slushy stuff that falls from the sky. I want to live somewhere where there's REAL snow. Also, I want it to be isolated. Somewhere where I can go outside and not see other houses and people everywhere.
House-wise, I'd love something big and open! With lots of places to explore. Like a castle! I know it's not realistic or whatever, but the question asked for dream home. I want something I can explore and have adventures in. I would want it to be open with huge windows opening over the ocean and a fireplace. A gas stove in the kitchen and an antique, rustic feel to the house would be nice.
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
(1). Time travel. I love the idea of being able to go to different times. I am of the belief that I was born in the wrong time period. I love classic rock and classic cars and have a collection of whatever old, antique things I can find. But I also love futuristic things and technology and space and Medieval Times, though I'd never want to live in that time period. Just visit all the pretty castles and try to ignore the smell.
(2). The ability to solve disagreements or compromise. I am extremely argumentative and I have trouble agreeing with people, so I would love the ability to stand back and look at both sides of an argument and come to a reasonable decision.
(3.) The ability to heal. I hate seeing people in pain and I'm actually looking into going into medicine, so I'd like to be able to help heal them or make them better. :)
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
Oh geez... um, I'm done basically nothing in my life so far. Does NOT killing my parents between ages 14-17 count? Let's see, getting into college, I guess. Education is extremely important to me, and I am of the belief that "knowledge is power", corny as it sounds. I don't know what I want to do with my life yet, but I know I want to stay in school for awhile. Maybe go for a doctorate. It was hard work getting here, but it's definitely worth it.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
Well, I'd have to say Adventure is the most important. As important as knowledge is to me, adventure is what really draws me. Life is meaningless without it. You can know as much as you want, but your life will hold no value and you can never really LEARN anything until you get out into the world. Adventure is what people need to learn. you can't truly know anything without having an adventure or two and living. Plus, how boring would life be without it?
The least important would have to be pleasure, I guess. I believe that the rest of the listed items can bring you pleasure, but even if they couldn't, I don't think I could ever put my own personal pleasure over the others. Even money, which I almost want to say is the least important, until I think of all the impoverished people and what having a lack of money can do to you. It sounds greedy, just typing it to me, but it's true. Money is definitely important, whereas pleasure isn't. As long as you have friends, family, and love, I don't really think you need all that much please.
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
"All you touch and all you see, Is all your life will ever be," by Pink Floyd from the song "Eclipse". I like this because, as cynical and depressing as it sounds, I've always looked at it as meaning that you have what's around you and nothing more and if you don't DO something with your life and be proactive, it's all you'll ever have. In this world, you will never get something for nothing, so you have to DO something with your life rather than whining that nothing turns out the way you plan. I'm not sure how much sense that makes in regard to the song lyric, but that's how I look at it.
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
Badly. I'm extremely cheap simply because I don't know how to do anything that has to do with money at all. It's not interesting to me, therefore I have trouble focusing on it and learning how to properly handle it. Financial security is very important, getting there is the problem. I recognize the importance of money and I understand that I will need it in my life, but I really have trouble handling it or really putting what it means into perspective.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
I don't have many hobbies. I'm really quite a boring person. I read a lot. Mostly fantasy. Sometimes I watch TV. I swim. I'm SCUBA certified, which is an amazing an experience. The water is just so... beautiful. It's unending and amazing. I like star gazing and I would love to be able to go to space someday. That's my dream. To step off the earth. I love things I can explore.
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
(1.) I'm afraid of the unknown. I always have been. I try and learn as much about it as possible by exploring and reading and anything else I can. I hate what I can't figure out... problems without solutions.
(2.) I'm terrified of small spaces. I need wide open places that I can breathe in. Things like being buried alive terrify me more than anything else. The inability to move might kill me before lack of air or food or water.
(3.) Rejection. I can't handle anyone telling me no, not because I'm spoiled, but becuase it's embarrassing and I hate the idea that I troubled someone enough that they had to say "no." I really don't know how to explain this correctly, but I really hate being rejected.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
Best-
(1.) I can empathize/sympathize very easily. I've never had trouble putting myself in someone else's shoes. It's just something that I can do and I like helping people when they're having a hard time.
(2.) I'm a good listener. I might not like listening to other people all the time, I will. If someone is having trouble or a problem of some sort, I can listen to them and help, even if all they need is someone to listen to them. God knows that's enough sometimes. :)
(3.) I'm very adventurous. I'll try everything once and love to have adventures. It annoys some people and I know some people that call it a flaw (*cough* my mother *cough*) but I consider it a good quality. I'm up for anything and if it doesn't out, then it didn't work out. But, I'll try anything at least once.
Worst-
(1). I'm extremely argumentative. I hate being wrong and can't admit it what I am, so I argue about it. It can be quite annoying and pointless and really never gets anywhere.
(2.) I don't think before I speak and end up constantly putting my foot in my mouth. It's gotten me into more trouble than I can possibly explain here. It's something that I have actively tried to change about myself, but I still go around saying whatever the hell comes to mind first. You'd think I'd learn after awhile, but, no, I don't.
(3.) Stubborn. I am extremely stubborn. I refuse to admit I'm wrong and there are certain people that can tell me to do something and simply because they told me to, I'll dig my heels in the ground and do the opposite. I can't stand being told what to do or that I'm wrong.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.How many books from the series have you completed?
I'm part way through A Dance with Dragons \O/
2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
(1.) Jon Snow. He's an extremely sympathetic character to me and I admire him quite a bit. He grew up a bastard, a well-treated bastard, but still, a bastard nonetheless. He didn't get to participate in many of his family's events when there were other people, and although his father loved him greatly, he had to be hidden away and Catelyn was a complete bitch to him, pardon my French. And, even through all of that, he didn't go all Edmund on them (if you've read King Lear) and try to overthrow his father or brother. He loves his family, his land, and has stayed true to himself.
(2.) Jaime Lannister. I freaking LOVE Jaime Lannister. He is amazing. I don't really know why I love him so much, but he definitely one of my all time favorite characters. I also can't call him Kingslayer as an insult... it annoys me. I admire him for killing the mad king. Yeah, he took an oath, but the second your oath keeps you from killing a man throwing people (children even!) onto a fire and is saying "Burn them, burn them all!", then it's okay to break your oath. In fact, I can go as far to say it's a flaw that he didn't kill the king earlier. I love his sense of humor and smart-ass attitude and how manipulative he is.
(3.) Arya Stark. I love her sense of adventure and willingness to do what's necessary. I actually was a lot like her when I was younger and can't help looking at her and Sansa's relationship and nodding and thinking, "yep, that was me and my cousin." She also does what she has to, and I respect that. It's not easy and I don't think I could do half the things she has simply to keep surviving but she DOES and everytime she starts something else, I can't help but admire her SO much.
3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
(1.) Joffery. Joffery freakin' Lannister. Or is Baratheon? Both? Whatever. He's the sadistic, psychopathic, incestuous offspring of Cersei and Jaime and I hate him. The only time he's been the book and I haven't been ready to burn the book because he pisses me off so much, is when he died. I danced happily then. Now, for awhile I tried to tell myself that he's just and I should give him a chance and really it's him mother's fault he is how he is, but no. Joffery is the only child character I have ever hated and wanted dead.
(2.) On that note, Cersei is my next choice. The best thing I can say about her is that she loves her children. After that, there's nothing good about her. I credit her mostly for how fucked up Joffery turned out and she's just... I hate her. I can't explain how much I hate her. Not as much as Joffery becuase she does have ONE redeeming factor, but after that, there's nothing.
(3.) Roose Bolton. I consider him more evil than Cersei or Joffery. He is just... awful. As bad as the other two are, they're not near as bad as Bolton. As any of the Bolton's. I consider them pure evil, some of the only pure evil characters in the books. What they do to Theon.... I don't like Theon but he doesn't deserve that *shudders*
4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
This is a hard question. There are so many moments to put here. Maybe when Jon first leaves for the Night's Watch and he's saying good-bye to everyone? Everything seems like it still might be okay. Everyone's together and even though Bran is crippled and Jon Arryn is dead, you don't quite know how awful it's going to get. It's one of the last times in the book you can truly hope and believe that something might be okay, but you still get that jaded, dark, horrifying sense that the books make so wonderfully real with the Bran story line. I love when Jon goes in to say his last good-byes and defies Catelyn. It shows his character grow and gives you a sense of independence. And the scene with Arya when he gives her Needle gives you a sense of adventure and shows the love and relationship between the two. Yeah, that's probably my favorite part if I have to choose.
5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
In my dream world? In my dream world they would develop time traveling, bring Ned back, and he would become king and everyone would be happy. But, I don't think that's what this question quite meant.
I'm of the opinion that whatever happens down south with all the power struggles and kings and queens doesn't matter near so much as what's happening at the wall with Jon and the Night's Watch. It won't matter who's king if you don't send men to the Wall and the others burst through and kill you all.
That being said, I would almost love it if that did happen in the end. The others coming through the wall and killing everyone just so I can look at all the stupid, power hungry people and say, "Told you so." That's my cynical choice, at least.
I suppose if none of the Starks can be king, I'd want Dany to become queen. I was initially voting for Robb as king in the North and Renly as king in the south. That didn't happen, so I thought, 'okay, I can Robb as king in the north and Dany as queen.' That didn't happen either. I don't like Stannis, I don't like Joffery or any of the Lannisters except Jaime and Tyrion and I don't want Jon to give up his post at the Night's Watch, so that leaves Dany.

Your first two answers were extremely Stark-ish, but after that, you settled pretty firmly into the Targaryen camp for me. I certainly understand where the Stark votes are coming from, but you seem to have such a zest, a desire for something bigger, that I associate much more with the dragons.

Date: 2012-06-01 01:31 am (UTC)Your wishes are very Tully-- wanting to be a peacemaker and to help other people.
"Knowledge Is Power" is a very Tyrell trait, I think, although it also applies to Lannister at times.
Listing Adventure first makes me think Martell or Targaryen, but since you list Pleasure last, that kinda eliminates Martell.
The proactive attitude of your quote and explanation make me think Targaryen.
And actually, I think your attitude towards money reminds me of Targaryens, too-- you want to be able to do what needs to be done, but don't want to be bogged down with *how* the money's there.
Your love of beauty and the wonder of nature seems very Tyrell for some reason.
I associate fear of failure with Targaryens and Lannisters, but coupled with your other fear of the unknown and wanting to know more so that it's not unknown anymore... that brings me down on the side of the dragons.
And overall, there's a sort of romanticism to your book answers that make me lean dragon-ward, also.
So we'll go with Targaryen.

Your answer to 6 fits Greyjoy too, as does your fears, I think. Your positive/negative traits is where I see the Tully, but I think it sort of fits Greyjoy too. Okay, well mostly just Asha.
That said, I do see the Lyanna Stark now that people mention it, so welcome to our house! :)
